About CYSI

The most unique and God-serving youth orchestra in Southern California

Who we are

CHRISTIAN YOUTH SYMPHONY OF IRVINE (CYSI), under a very healthy and Christ-loving Bethel Korean Church in Irvine, CA, is the most unique and God-serving youth orchestra in Southern California. CYSI, weekly providing God-centered education by 10 dedicated teachers, performs in local churches and prestigious concert halls, such as Musco Center for the Arts, as well as homeless shelters.

CYSI performs a wide range of music from film music, hymn arrangements and original classical works by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and many others, to very challenging pieces, such as Ravel’s Tzigane and Holst’s The Planets.

CYSI has performed with renowned musicians: 11 season soloist at NY’s Metropolitan Opera Bass-baritone Richard Zeller; Professor at William Paterson University and performer over 60+ roles across four continents, Paul An, among many others.

Award-winning composer and conductor Dr. Elliott Bark (www.elliottbark.com) has been the music director since 2013. He patiently works with young musicians with positive atmosphere and focuses on creating high quality music and using it for the glory of God.

CYSI strives to create an environment to educate and inspire young Christian musicians for Christ through unique programs and exceptional opportunities.
